The 030 Direct Slot provides a balanced architecture for systems designed around the 68030 without NuBus. The full 32-bit slot supports high-performance expansion cards full access to the ROM routines including: Color QuickDraw, 68882 support, and Apple Sound Manager.

The 030 Direct Slot has a 120-pin, Euro-DIN style, three-row connector containing a super-set of the signals available on the 68030. Expansion cards in Macintosh SE/30 are installed* vertically for more efficient cooling.
